Document Summary
Web 1. 0: the original web, very little user-generated content, user created their own homepage and uploaded website to internet. Web 2. 0: the current web that we are used to, term first coined in 1999, user-generated content is key content that people want, facebook, Web 3. 0: the future web, no true definition exists, but most seem to center on two key concepts, semantic web and personalization. Semantic web more meaning associated with it: addition of tags, hashtags, user generated content updated a lot. Personalization information relevant to you at an exact moment. Online advertising in time: was originally quite generic and not very useful. Ads were intermingled with legitimate search results (a law later prevented this) Ads were not targeted to a specific location and lacked customization: now that our devices have gps, rfid, nfc and a host of other data points , ads can be hyper local and incredibly relevant.
