Maternal, nurturing igure who is in charge of the children. Only nurse they can aford, but in the father"s desire for social conformity (nurses for children), they get a dog for a nurse. Father igure obsessed with conformity, contrasted with the world of childhood which is associated with freedom and individuality. Mrs darling is associated with indiciduality: she has the kiss that no one can access. Adulthood as a fall, away from individuality. Wendy and garden: space of freedom, mother wants her to stay young forever. Like peter, never wants anyone to grow up.
