HISTORY 103 Lecture Notes - Lecture 23: Two-State Solution, Ehud Olmert, Ehud Barak
Document Summary
Everyone lives in one state from the river to the sea o o. A sovereign state where jews and arabs live together. Many people argue that this is the only real probable future. The settler movement unintentionally, perhaps suicidally, has become the vanguard of the one-state solution. The greater israel and hamas versions share a belief in religious and ethnic supremacy. Also share the feature that they both inspire total hostility from their intended victims and can only be imposed by brute force. Mostly just a perpetuation of violence until the majority can drive out the minority. Everyone should live together under official jewish sovereignty. Arabs would have legal rights, but not citizenship rights. Same as the program of the likud o o o. Still the ideal of the israeli far right. Claim to want this on pragmatic security grounds. A smaller part of the right evokes religious rational. Arabs would have a say, but no governance.
