■ France = revenge → suffered severely because it was fought on their war
■ US = soft peace
○ Independent socialists were the only party that did not speak out against this peace treaty
● War Guilt Clause: German’s felt like they had “fallen into the war” like everyone else
○ Were called sole guilty party for the war
■ Didn’t rest well that they had to pay for war damages
■ War reparations were unspecified
● Victors realized that Germany couldn’t pay for all the damages - needed
to negotiate among each other/Germans
○ Germans thought it would be a crippling amount
