Ecology = stdy of the relationships between organisms and their environments both living and non living. Energy from food passes from one organism to another. Each link is called a trophic level. Nutrient cycling - basic trophic levels and thinking about different systems (aquatic and terrestrial) Tied back to everything by decomposers and detritivores. We need to understand what is going on these systems since usually large changes in environs are negative. Carrying capacity = max pop of a species an environ can maintain. Where we get problems of need to hunt more of one type of an animal since these animals lack predators. Can shift with the environ with dif climates, has an eb and flow to it. If there is an abundance of hares one year there will be an abundance of linx and then these fluctuations will continue. Deer are at such high number we need to do something about it.
