Public statements, interviews, newsletters, social media posts. Sponsorship of a bill - being the author of a bill, tons of work. Co-sponsorship of a bill - before the vote, the opportunity for legislators to give their support for a bill, not necessarily very telling of a bill"s success. Not co-sponsoring a bill does not mean that one opposes it. Bipartisan co-sponsorship is a sign that the bill might be viable. Don"t know all the information, usually don"t read the bill. Most of the work is already done. Do key cue-givers (legislative allies, party leaders, constituents) have different positions. Roll call vote is the moment at which dyadic representation occurs. # pro bill - # anti bill. (# pro bill x avg intensity) - (# anti bill x avg intensity) Intensity of support or opposition is what matters. On most issues, constituent beliefs align with the representative"s ideologies which align with party leaders" opinions.
