Example: if an organ increases fitness, then that organ will increase in frequency. If a pattern of behavior increases fitness, then that pattern will increase in frequency. Mate selection preferences plays a strong role in reproductive sex. Males genes (what they look for in a female sex partner: the challenge: fertile females, the solution: young, healthy females, the proxies: beauty and energy, the threat: raising someone else"s child. Females genes (what they look for in a male sex partner: the challenge: investment in children, the solution: wealthy, committed males, the proxies: ambition, passion, the threat: diversion of resources to someone else"s child. Males are more likely to willingly agree to have sex than females.
