Document Summary

The human brain is larger than the brain of any other species. Incredibly complex systems compared to simple celled organisms. Single celled organisms have not needed to evolve (cid:0) that is why they are still single celled. What information is and how to measure it. Any difference that makes a difference gregory bateson. One variant of a gene that makes a difference in the resulting organism. What occurs in biology and within the nervous system. Information = organization, arrangement, pattern, order, predictability. Can be communicated through space and time. Nervous system takes information from one place and moves it to another. Entropy causes disorder (cid:0) energy is needed for order. Living creatures have minds they invest energy (metabolic) to keep their nervous systems in order. Brain uses 25% of the bodies metabolic energy. Heredity ability to pass information on from one generation to the next. Adaptation occurs because information (dna) is passed on between generations.
