Document Summary
Personal perspective: as if you"re looking through your own eyes again. Ex) first kiss, walking to class this morning, football game vs wisco . Ex) pittsburgh is in pa, 2+2=4, birds have wings. The world is clumpy - things share characteristics, similarities. Enemy = threat = fight or flight. It allows us to make inferences about new things / members of a class. Ex) we can infer things about a new dog because we can classify it as a dog and we know what dogs do. Pigeons peck one of four keys depending on stimulus. Keys are related to certain stimulus - if the pigeon gets it correct, they get food. Stimulus is picture of an object (cat, car, chair, flower) 81% accurate with old exemplars (pictures of the objects already seen before) 64% accurate with new exemplars (new pictures of objects in same category as those seen before)
