Document Summary

There is a matrix of dominaion: race, class, gender. Not all black, gay, rich, poor, straight, lesbian, men or women are the same. Instead of binaries, how do we create a matrix by intersecing these diferent ideniies or oppressions. Black women have experienial (standpoint) knowledge that gives them the ability to improve the lives of others. And to undertake acions that resist the dominaion. Prisons for our bodies; closets for our minds. They are not separate (both controlled by insituions, discipline) Intersecion: the racializaion of promiscuity, the whitening of homosexuality. We"ve connected promiscuity with black people, painted them as more sexual beings. Western mis-portrays muslim women"s problems as resuling from islam. Look instead at other aspects of history (pakistan) All of these are in the context of globalizaion and the anxieies generated by its social changes. Unil the late 1800"s sexuality was not regulated in the u. s.
