Confidence interval provides a range of plausible values for the parameter. If the null value is within the range, the null hypothesis would not be rejected. If the null value is outside the range, it would be rejected. The significance level of the test should coincide with the confidence level: 95% confidence level 5% significance level. Relationship holds exactly for tests about a population mean or difference between two population means. Chapter 8: learning about a population mean difference.
