Pregnancy facts: length of gestation: 40 weeks. Pregnancy and childbirth: based on the first day of the woman"s last menstrual period, significance of the due date - measured by weeks. Pregnancy development: pregnancy is divided into three trimesters, 0 - 12 weeks, 13 - 27 weeks, 28 - 40 weeks, within each trimester significant changes occur and some landmark event happens. Trimester changes: first trimester changes, frequent urination, more fluid retention, increase in blood volume, nausea and vomiting, breast tenderness, hormonal changes, fatigue. Progress in labor: cervical change, effacement: 0 - 100, dilation: 0 - 10 centimeters, descent, station is measured in relation to the ischial spines and the top of the baby"s head, -3 to +3.
