Timeline: gandhi is born in 1869 in porbandar, india. Africa and battles for the rights of indians. In 1915, he begins the struggle for india"s independence. Later on, in 1930, gandhi leads hundreds of protestors against a salt tax. In 11947, he negotiates an end to the 190 years of british rule in india. Gandhi is killed in 1948 due to his religious tolerance. His philosophy of nonviolence and his passion for independence began a drive for freedom that doomed colonialism. (rushdie, 1) Gandhi struggled for freedom in his time, but now is being used as a part of advertisements for big business. Apple used a picture of gandhi and the line think different to advertise their products; its amazing that such a profound figure is now being used, after his death, to promote technology. The irony is gandhi was against technology and modernization.
