Document Summary
Cancer treatments for cancer that has spread are not as good/plentiful. State of the art treatment immunologic (human protein) tells immune system to not stop fighting: cancer cells tells immune system cells to not kill them. Treatment blinds immune system receptors so it will not stop fighting the cancer cells. Chemo is a chemical treatment, gives cancer cells fake protein that poisons it as it grows. How does cancer develop: normal cell division: cell damage, no repair cell suicide or apoptosis. Cancer cell division: first mutation second mutation third mutation fourth or later mutation uncontrolled growth (multi- hit process) Major types of new tissue growth: hypertrophy increase in cell size, normal organization, hyperplasia increase in cell number, normal organization, dysplasia disorganized growth, neoplasia disorganize growth, increase in number of dividing cells. Tumor: definitions and development: neoplasm abnormal tissue growth in which cells proliferate in uncontrolled, autonomous fashion leading to tumor. Tumor swelling caused by fluid build up or cell accumulation.
