PHIL 164 Lecture Notes - Lecture 6: Fetus
Document Summary
People most frequently view abortion in one of three ways: extreme, moderate, or liberally. A person with extreme views would find that fetuses are people from the moment of conception and it is wrong to kill them. A person with moderate views would find abortion to be both permissible and impermissible given different situations. A person with a liberal view would think that fetuses are not people and a woman"s right to her body supersedes anything else. Her argument takes down a prominent pro-life argument. Thompson fights point three (3) saying that a women"s right body is greater than a fetus"s right to life. The first thought case she provides deals with a violinist which is attached to a person for nine months.
