Stage where children learn relationships between actions and the real world (cause and effect) Example: children tend to repeatedly drop food from high chair and giggle because they are understanding for the first time that when they drop something, it goes to the floor. Object permanence- objects still exist when they disappear. Example: a child who doesn"t understand object permanence would think that their favorite teddy bear is gone if you simply cover it with a blanket to hide it. Attachment -stranger anxiety, becoming attached to objects like favorite blanket or stuffed animals. Acquire ability to form mental images of objects and events and can represent the world with words language develops.
