Limits life chances in ways urban families do not have to experience. How: american experience, separate is never equal. Hypothesis: re-location of elite schools to the chinese countryside will change life trajectories for rural youth. Educationally, through enhanced skill sets: going to elite schools would make them better students and prepare them to preform much better in the standardized tests. Socially, through expanded social networks: making connections for the rural students with urban students will present opportunities through connections of their peers for later in life. Comparison groups: multi-group sample, single group population sample has no basis for comparison, low quality - rural and high quality urban, expected high division between two groups in the three aspects, outcome measures. Psychological: comes in interview, ask basic questions. Limitations: theory is ok, but very hard to implement in the real world. Even in the same school, urban and rural students were living in two separate worlds: still separated.
