Weren"t valued as people, no humanity recognition. Most women get pregnant during the fall harvest because work is easier, they were forced to work even if pregnant. Reality: heavily relied on children to work. There are far more breadlosers than breadwinners. Laws where women can"t work certain areas. Changing jobs from industrial to service economy, hospitality, retail, lawyers, doctors, teachers. Rate for women has been trending up until great recession, which began trending down parallel to the rate for men. Women make 80 cents of every dollar a man makes. Adult men: 3. 9% women: 3. 6% teen: 13. 9% (adults 20+ years, teens 16-19) Underemployment 14% aka part time looking for full time & unemployed leaves out discouraged workers. Cost of living has gone up so both people have to make money. As education goes up, so does employment. Women are most likely to have service jobs. Creates time squeeze for families - dual learner, single parent.
