Document Summary

Functions of muscle tissue: produce movement, maintain posture - muscles are slightly tensed to maintain joint position, stabilize joints - tendons go across joints and stabilize them, produce body heat, ex. shivering if cold. A lot of ct large blood supply large nerve supply. Each fascicle surrounded by layer of ct (perimysium) Each muscle fiber in muscle surrounded by layer of ct ( endomysium) All these ct sheaths are continuous with tendons. Skeletal muscle cells skeletal muscle cell is muscle fibers sarcolemma - the plasma membrane cytoplasm is the sarcoplasm. Each myofibril is made up of myofilaments skeletal muscle is striated b/c myofibrils are striated line up their striations. I band - white lines sarcomere - makes up i band.
