Coronary circulation
- Right coronary artery - gives off some branches
- Posterior interventricular artery
- Marginal artery - along the margin of right ventricle
- Small cardiac vein runs along marginal artery
- *** coronary circulation runs along coronary sulcus
- Left coronary artery - usually shorter
- Anterior interventricular artery
- The great cardiac vein
Anastomosis
- When vessels come are joined together to create network for circulation
- Ex. circumflex artery, posterior and interventricular arteries joining together
- ** an anastomoses exists when 2 or more interconnecting blood vessels supply
same area. Provides alternate/collateral circulation
- Ex. Circle of Willis
Coronary veins
- Coronary sinus
- great cardiac vein, small cardiac vein, marginal artery, and anterior cardiac veins
drain into it and the sinus empties into right atrium
- Anterior veins
- Great cardiac vein, small cardiac vein ( small cardiac vein runs along marginal
artery)
- Only the anterior cardiac vein drains directly into right atrium
- 3 major veins - superior vena cava, inferior vena cava, coronary sinus
- All other cardiac veins empty into coronary sinus then empty into right atrium
Posterior veins
- Great cardiac vein- in front, goes around heart
- Middle cardiac vein - empties into coronary sinus and runs along posterior
interventricular artery
- Posterior cardiac vein

Document Summary

Right coronary artery - gives off some branches. Marginal artery - along the margin of right ventricle. Small cardiac vein runs along marginal artery. When vessels come are joined together to create network for circulation. Ex. circumflex artery, posterior and interventricular arteries joining together. ** an anastomoses exists when 2 or more interconnecting blood vessels supply same area. Coronary sinus great cardiac vein, small cardiac vein, marginal artery, and anterior cardiac veins drain into it and the sinus empties into right atrium. Great cardiac vein, small cardiac vein ( small cardiac vein runs along marginal artery) Only the anterior cardiac vein drains directly into right atrium. All other cardiac veins empty into coronary sinus then empty into right atrium. 3 major veins - superior vena cava, inferior vena cava, coronary sinus. Great cardiac vein- in front, goes around heart. Middle cardiac vein - empties into coronary sinus and runs along posterior interventricular artery. Av nodes will depolarize and repolarize automatically.
