Made up of dermis (connective) and epidermis (epidermal) hypodermis - under integument (loose ct) Cells of epidermis keratinocytes - vast majority of cells. Only live b/w 25 to 45 days. Dark pigment granules produced to protect binding cells (keratinocytes) from ultraviolet light dendritic cells. Branched cells that act against invaders immune system. Merkel cells sensory cells that sense touch. One cell layer thick continually dividing to produce new keratinocytes.
