Give an example of a research finding that illustrates changes in the brain that may have implications for cognitive development more generally. State what was done, what was found, how the findings were interpreted, and why the findings may have implications for cognitive development more generally. The study of brain development has greatly informed our understanding of cognitive development in many different ways. There are many different research studies that have been conducted to show that changes in the brain may have implications for cognitive development. It is also known that executive function depends importantly on the prefrontal cortex. One of these studies was done by kennard which was the idea that children"s brains are protected because they are more plastic. In this study they used younger and older monkeys and put small cuts into the brain for the areas that control movement.
