Premises liability- a law which makes the person who is in possession of land responsible for certain injuries suffered by persons who are present on the premises. Duty of care- a landowner owes a duty of reasonable care to guard against anything dangerous on their property that the owner either knows about or should have discovered . Ex: the land might be owned by the city but rented by a private soccer team and depending on the time of the incident and who was in control of the situation at the time. Soccer team is liable if the person gets hurt during practicing because the soccer team is in control. City is liable if the person gets hurt just walking to the field for a practice: there are 3 types of groups of people entering land (this also varies from state to state): Invitee- a person who is on the property with the consent of the landowners.
