Document Summary

There are things we need to know so we can plan someone"s vacations. Theories of tourist behavior: socio-demographic variables influence tourism what is the influence of a person"s age, gender, social class, and ethnicity on their decision to participate in leisure or take a trip. Differ in what they want to do, eat, etc. Ex: disney =extroverts dream: motivations for tourism and leisure. Refers to motivation that comes from inside an individual. Maslow"s need theory provides insight into way trips satisfies certain. Need to keep this hierarchy in mind because people don"t have their basic needs on vacation so we have to provide and build on that. Ex: people who travel want to escape or reduce stress people are seeking to satisfy basic physiological need. Tourists are unaware of true reasons for going on the trip. Person may not want to give the true reason: ex: 19 year old isn"t going to say they want to go to myrtle.
