Document Summary

Quiz in two weeks: clefs, note id, scales, key sig, rhythm, meter and intervals. Review: scales are just collections of notes which we choose from to build melodies and harmonies. Notes in a scale each get their own space/line and they do not slip a space or line. C major is the only major scale with only white notes. Accidentals- sharps raise a half step, flats drop a half step. Natural: reverts note to original, or white key form. Key signature: identifies the key (i. e. c# and f# are the key sig for d major) Every major keys signature is unique (like 3 flats would identify key of e flat) Every major key has a relative minor key. The key signature is the same; the scale is different, starts on a different note. Only one major and minor for each key sig. C majors relative minor would me a minor.
