Lifetime risk of rape victimization for women estimated 14-25% Rates have declined by 63% since the 1990s. Ruled a war crime by the un in 1996. May be useful to terrorize enemy/disrupt social networks. Rape of males- estimated 1 in 8 will be sexually victimized at some point in his lifetime, most likely by another male. Violence in childhood home- child abuse and domestic assault. Sexual promiscuity (more sexual partners makes them feel more powerful) Sexual harassment- unwanted sexual attention from someone in a work or educational setting. Employment or education contingent on accepting sexual advances. 25-50% of women report having been sexually harassed at a job and/or at school. Military sexual trauma- reported by 20-40% of females and about 1% of male veterans.
