The story is compiled of a series of "picaresque" adventures. Two girl armies (one that glinda the good has and one that ginger is in charge of) Wanted to make it so that the real world is now impossible because it is so cruel and faces too much hardship. Set up in the wizard of oz where kansas is depicted as a terrible place; allows for there to be a larger juxtaposition between her home and where she ultimately ends up. The bad guys continue to get worse as the books progress and as dorothy meets more people. Growleywogs are portrayed as "distorted indians" which shows some racial prejudice. The next ones are able to turn into nearly anything they would like to. The magic belt and magic in general in this text.
