Politics- the process used to determine who gets what, when, and how. Resources for power- support, money, credibility, authority, and fear. Power- the ability of a person to influence another person to do something they wouldn"t normally do. Problems with inevitable of conflicts: differing ideologies, scarce resources, struggle for power. Management of conflicts: force- very effective and helps prevent it in the future. If force is over used, it makes the leaders untrustworthy and not liked. Also people get hurt: diversification of conflict- distracting with something positive to distract from the negative, deception- the government will deceive the people, political socialization- process that teaches people how to fit in. The rationality of man: human beings have the ability to have reason and should be trusted to make decisions. Spirituality of man: the belief that there is a supreme being who is omniscient. This being will grant humans the ability to make rational decisions if they are loyal followers.
