Document Summary

Phil 1033 10. 31. 16: brief review enframing. With easily accessed info, worried about its taking control. Objections to heidegger, and possible responses on his behalf. People have always worried about the impact of technology, but the concerns don"t pan out the printing press, the telephone, the television, etc. Got rid of sitting and telling stories, no more face to face interaction, people stopped interacting or talking as much. Internet- given pros- like accessing info has been good, video chat. Didn"t get best of both worlds: lost ability to slow down now, need to manage enframing. Be efficient and timely when need to but also enjoy things that are more slow when possible. Its pervasive: relevant to almost everyone, why not talk about it if it is there. Even if heidegger is right, and we want to be quick and impatient, isn"t that our right: become a first order desire to enjoy things done quick, maybe hes a dictator.
