Other organizations: screen actors guild, american federation of television and radio. Women have a smaller span for approved leads. Issue in hollywood with a lack of diversity. Can be flat, don"t have to be dynamic. Extras to fill empty seats, people on the street. Recognizable but no significant role (stan lee or alfred hitchcock) Synthesis of basic sources, the script, their own experiences and observations, influences of other actors. Actors re-crate recognizable human behavior for the camera. Actors think, speak and move the way people would think they should. May employ stranger or outlandish costumers, makeup, hairstyles. Might aim for effect beyond the normal range of human experience. Often intent to distance or estrange audiences from characters. Often found in horror, fantasy and action films.
