Gravida: a pregnant woman, regardless of duration, or number of fetuses. Multigravida: woman who has been pregnant more than once. Para: delivery of an infant/infants of viable age (20 weeks). Primipara: has had one delivery of infant/infants of viable age. Multipara: has had two or more deliveries of infant/infants of viable age. Grandmultipara: has had 5 or more deliveries of infant/infants of viable age. Tpal: term, preterm, abortions (either elective or spontaneous), living. Antepartum: (antenatal, prenatal) time from conception to onset of labor. Post partum (puerperuim): period following delivery- typically 3 months. Trimester: a 3 month period of pregnancy. Miscarriage: death of fetus below 20 weeks. In primagravida, fetus head goes down into the pelvic cavity 2 weeks before onset of labor. In multigravida, fetus head goes down into the pelvic cavity at onset of labor. Increase in size: don"t need to know exacts. This is not symmetrical- more growth at the fundus.
