Document Summary

Look at microbial taxa in human and chimpanzee gut microbiomes. Main difference between human and chimps is in genera level. Non westernised humans have higher diversity/ lower bacteroides than westernised humans. Enterotypes=bigger groups of gut communities that cover bigger taxa. Gradient among poeople that these tenterotypes act like poles, with some people who were in between. There"s variability even within one indigenous community, every study of groups in low income families, always have excess prevotella compared to bacteroides - correlated with level of how remote/ lifestyle is. They mention it as a reason for lower diversity with higher sanitation. Principal components are along each axes along which the data is maximal where variations exist the most. Directions uncorrelated to the axis occur the most. Pc for enterotypes and compare humans and chimps data. Vertical inheritance = transfer of microorganisms over generations within a host lineage (eg. mother to child)
