Today we"ll spend most of the class working on some examples in basic probability. We"ll also cover a little bit of r as well at the end. Here are our problems and activities for today: turn in your homework and check in with me, this is a class activity. Suppose the class consists of employees in a department store, and some employees are stealing. There will be two managers appointed, and their job is to determine the thieves. The managers will be given the use of a lie-detector test, but it is only correct 80% of the time. So, if an employee is stealing, then they are identi ed as a thief 80% of the time. If they are not stealing, then they are identi ed as such 80% of the time. One is labeled from 0 to 9; the other is labeled from 00 to 90. For what follows, scale the second die to 0 to 9.
