Document Summary
Cmd 276 - lecture 6 - articulatory system. The vocal tract is a tube modified by movement of the articulators. Oral and nasal cavities are positioned horizontally, pharynx is vertical. System of movable and immovable structures that form a series of valves. Opening is the point of exit for most speech sounds. Lower lip connected to midline of mandible by inferior labial frenulum. Primary orbicularis oris; surrounds upper and lower lips. Elevators levator labii superioris, levator anguli oris, zygomatic major and minor, risorius. Depressors depressor anguli oris, depressor labii inferioris, mentalis.
