Hdf 201 - lecture 19 - aging: meeting the needs of the frail elderly. Aging is often a state of mind. Some late adults are in poor health. Frailty dependency (newman, 2015, p. 599) Elderly who are considered frail may need help in certain aspect of their lives. Activities of daily living everyday, regular activities. Optimal functioning the will to complete a task. Elderly may need to go to specialized facilities. Take late adults away from opportunities that encourage independence and the completing of tasks on their own. Children take on responsibilities of caring for parents. Controlling some aspects of their parents" life. May not always consider parents" personal wishes. Elder abuse psychological and/or physical abuse of late adults. 2014: 11% of elders said they had been abused and/or neglected. Alzheimer"s patients are more likely to be the victims of abuse.
