We"re getting deep into shannon"s personal experience today. Which mean"s we"re getting to the radical approach. Four approaches which are kind of meaningful to distinguish. Basically the washington consensus, privatize, hail markets. Can build environmentalism into mainstream capitalism, that"s what. Radical alterations aren"t necessary, just a lil" shift. Environmental concerns are on equal priority with capital growth. Say the necessary change is most fundamental. Often pushed to the fringes of conversation. Only the broad heuristics are widely agreed upon, the specifics on how to transform has no consensus. Pretty established, often old, have a hierarchical structure. Focus on issues outside of themselves, pursuing the public good. Ngos are generally nonprofits, nonprofits aren"t necessarily ngos. Friends of the earth international is not, individual national chapters get to pick what they work on. Generally comprised of impacted communities rather than people looking at issues outside of themselves. Don"t last that long, might be tied around a single event.
