7 views2 pages

Document Summary

Targets pathogens in body but not inside cells. Each has a slightly diff binding site. All shaped like a y (in general) Can recognize molecules on your cells and not on ur cells (microbes) Lymph nodes are full of t & b cells. Which are responsible for mounting an adaptive immune response to a pathogen that has infected the body. All living cells, cells, viruses has distinctive molecules on the outside. Macrophages present antigen to b cell inside lymph node via its receptors and then is when its activated. An activated b cell cannot activate other b cells. Eventually becomes plasma cell that pumps out massive amounts of antibodies. Sends via with help of helper t-cell aids to recognize antigen (homeostasis) Binds with b cell once b cell presents antigen to t cell. Immune system has to be balanced (homeostasis)
