Document Summary

Darwin, slow long time, change (physical traits, genetics, morphology [character traits, environments]) Patterns of change: how organisms change over time. Process of natural selection: the process that we think might be producing that pattern. Humans did not evolve from chimpanzees (vice versa) but we came from a common ancestor. There is an incremental/continuous change in the way humans have evolved (skull) Cheek bones look different (stick out more before and have evened out with the rest of the soul over time) You can almost tell how old a fossil is based on how it looks (done with horses and pigs) Noticed that the pattern of different organisms weren"t random (mules look like horses & zebras, etc) Lots of animal are modi ed versions of a descendants of a common ancestor (horses, gazelles, pigs have split toes) Maybe all life is related from the same ancestor that lived long ago (descent with modi cation).
