Can be difficult if animal was brought or if it is a modern animal. Not usually used as indicator of environment, rather human use of them. Used for food and resources to create objects/tools. Diet - food consumption over long term. Meal - food consumption over short term. Subsistence - strategies and means to support life through consumption of food. Seasonality - some food is available at certain times. Nomadic or semi-sedentary groups move around in landscape to get different sources at different times. Look for gap in occupation of area. Domesticated pollen not usually recognizable from wild counterparts.
