Carthage isn"t shut off, but had contact with other cultures and traded with everyone. took in greek culture. If carthiginians won, they wouldn"t have expanded like rome but rather increased trade. Romans destroyed carthage and settled there after 15 years bc it was too strategic. 2nd punic war (218-201 bc): more islands (corsica and sardinia) from carthiginians. Romans surrounded carthage and they couldn"t get out. Punic war 3: 149-146 bc; commerce party happy they don"t have to pay money for.
