We transmit genes that bestow attributes to our offspring. Women + men automatically look for desirable attributes well in reproduction. Genetic traits affect anatomy + social/sexual behaviors. Sexist theory: men hunter warriors, women caregivers + fruit gatherers. Paternity uncertainty: essential for him to know whose baby she"s carrying bc doesn"t make sense to risk dna hunter for someone else"s offspring. Nomads = tribal culture vs. cave men = nuclear family. Psychology: the study of thought, emotion, behavior, relationship and their interactions. Temperament: inherited disposition to behave in certain ways. Behavioral (skinner): behaviors are learned + can be unlearned by aversion, operant conditioning: reinforcements + punishments, positive reinforcements: increases odds behavior will be repeated, negative: removes unpleasant stimulus, random intermittent schedule of positive reinforcement: keeps you hooked. Social learning theory: rewards + punishments + feelings + thoughts + beliefs, imitation + identification learn by watching others, current behavior = past learning + present situation.
