All humans are pre-destined to form attachment. Different temperament different way of development. Interventions: sensory, swaddling, vision, routines (feeding and sleeping), firm touch: family involvement: explanation of procedures, playing mother voice, sensory, smell. Toddlers: considerations to take: how long has the child been in the hospital, motor and language skill levels, and temperament. Interventions: have a choice, exploration, room to move around: family involvement: siblings coming in, preparation and support. Preschool: considerations to take: careful about medical terminology, may not know how to socialize, and temperament/personality. Interventions: fantasy play, some form of constant care, social skills, some form of normalcy: family involvement: siblings. School age: considerations: seeking social interaction, self-conscious, more aware of death. Interventions: education activities: family involvement: sibling, friend visits.
