Yelp reviews: language between good and bad reviews. Bad were the same no matter what restaurant, whereas good ones were different. Fast food was talked about more of an addiction, whereas expensive restaurants were more sexual. Ex: donuts are like crack, soup was orgasmic . Nature of language: words we use in everyday life reflect our lives, and psychological state. This is relevant to humans, and animals: communication and how animals communicate. Conditions must be met, but animals communicate (dog growling) Famous example, bees that return to a beehive will dance; tell others about direction of food, quality, and distance. But it needs to be more than communication, semantics and syntax: semantics: words, arbitrary symbol to words. Would have to tail wag when angry: but some species do, monkeys can have some words. When there"s a leopard, they"ll give a certain call, same with eagle and snake.
