Document Summary

A broad set of theories and social political movements. A political and personal project to end sexism. Misandry: dislike of, contempt for, or ingrained prejudice against men. Patriarchy: a social system in which men are the primary political leaders, moral guides, and retain a majority of economic and social privileges. Matriarchy is not patriarch (they are not equivalent) because women do(cid:374)"t ha(cid:448)e the a(cid:272)(cid:272)ess to po(cid:449)e(cid:396). Writing is on race, sexism and capitalism- and the intersection thereof. First: 1880-1950 right to vote, inheritance and property rights, the right to ride bikes. Second: 1960-1980 workplace inequalities, sexual violence, reproductive rights, some lgbtq issues. Third: 1980-1990 women of color, economically disadvantaged communities, representation. Fourth-ish: 2000-present queer/transgender women, non-men, sex positivity and education. Intersectionality recognizes how people experience oppression along multiple aces of identity: not additive: black women experience different oppression from white women, not twice as much of the same kind of oppression.
