Interest groups = an organization of individuals sharing common objectives who actively attempt to influence policy makers in all three branches of gov"t**** According to pluralist theorist, policy in a democracy is the result of various special interest groups reaching equilibrium . Organized to represent geographically defined constituencies tx state and congressional districts. 75% of americans belong in organization, 50% belong to 2 or more organizations. Education, income and occupation have an impact on who joins group: if more educated, more income, higher occupation more likely to join group. Informational special newsletters, periodicals, training programs, conferences and other items provided to members of the group to entice others to join. Material join for some economic or monetary benefit.
