Raf defeated the luftwaffe and downed 1,887 german planes. Long: provided support in later on battles such as d-day and malta with supplies and served as bomber over german grounds. Immediate: incredibly strong and capable of taking many hits before it was taken out. Hawker hurricane pilots claimed 1,593 of the 2,739 victories by the raf in the battle of britain. Stable gun platform, easy to fly, manufacture and maintain. Long term: eventually ineffective because outperformed by german me 110 and italian cr32 and cr 42. Germany- was supposed to fly out without fighter plane escorts to bomb british military and air force bases.
