changing and how company can use it. CIO communicates needs to following ppl:
-business analysts: liason, gather the requirements necessary for the business and gives
requirements programmers to develop the technology/software necessary.

Training is a cost and a big task in organizations, change in software and

Politics: social interactions
Environmental scanning: gathering IT requirements needed to facilitate changes in the
environment
Organizational structures, ppl, job tasks and IT need to simultaneously change for the
technology to be effective.
In the market in general, IT costs go down, and the labor costs go up.
Transaction costs: products not made in house, tht other suppliers do. IT facilitates a
Network of suppliers, which requires no need for research. Suppliers are fulfilling the job as
the orders come in.
Agency costs: IT allows us to maintain info abt employees, creates a flatter
organization cuz dnt need as many levels like a middle manager if the dashboard can
already handle those specific tasks.
Porter's competitive forces model: wht forces affect the relation btwn the firm and
competitors
New market entrants: new products to challenge the status quo,
Suppliers: wht we need to run the business, vertical integration- bargaining power
Customers: need them to buy our products, want to create customer loyalty, customize to their
needs

Value chain: depicts series of events tht we need to do tht adds value to how the
company does their business. Becomes the basis for analyzing the best effective methods to
