Wanted crack down on supply and demand in the us: between 2007 and 2012, 60k murders were tied to drug war. Mexico took a passive stance towards the ongoing drug war and the cartels. Strongly adopted a policy to crack down drug lords using all strength of the government. Mexico"s deaths from the war increased by 700% from 2006 to 2011. Mexico takes up 38. 8% of applications for asylum. More people died in mexico from the drug war than iraq and afghanistan since 2007. Francisco tejada: former police of cer who got involved with cartels, currently serving 40 year prison sentence, discovered painting in prison, now teaches a class. Javier sicillia: noted poet/novelist/peace activist/journalist, son was murdered by cartel people, now he focuses on activism.
