Wednesday, february 17, 2016 10:03 am: to understand how law school functions, you need to know two things. Law school has very little to do about learning the law. It is to toughen you up, get you ready for professional world: nobody cares about your personal ideas, care about performance, create arti cial levels of competitiveness and hierarchy. Us system is pretty unique compared to the rest of the world. Pre-1900s: apprenticeship model, undergraduate degree, then work under a master lawyer, learn the bar while learning the ins and outs of a law rm, this changed due to the explosion of litigation and need for more lawyers. Industrialization in the late 1800s: medicine was also starting to move to a professional structure vs. apprenticeship. Current system: post-graduate, formal education attached to university, maintained by the american bar association, admissions to law schools. In charge of accrediting law schools, determine if it is of cial or not.
