Document Summary

Learning- an enduring change in behavior that occurs with experience. Association- when one piece of information is repeatedly linked with another and the organism connects them, key to the 2 major conditioning models of learning. Orienting response- automatic shift of attention towards a new stimulus. Habituation- sensory process by which organisms adapt to constant stimulation, so result = a decrease in responsiveness to familiar stimulus. Classical conditioning- when a neutral stimulus becomes associated with a stumulus in which the learner has an automatic, inborn response. Ivan pavlov"s dog experiment, advertising, taste aversion, phobias- little albert. Parts (ucr) unconditioned response- automatic, inborn reaction to a stimulus: Two criteria of conditioning: multiple pairings of ucs and cs necessary to learn association, close in time- presentation of ucs and cs. Extinction- weakened and eventual disappearance of a conditioned response that occurs when the. Ucs is no longer paired with the cs. Operant conditioning- process of changing behavior by manipulating its consequences.
